Yang Ming 4th International Adolescents Painting Competition, 2012


One my current favorite museums in Taiwan is holding and international painting competition, open to anyone round the world aged four to 15.  Here are the details, taken from here.

Yang Ming 4th International Adolescents Painting Competition, 2012
Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has long paid attention to the protection of marine environment, energy conservation, carbon reduction, and public education on maritime culture. Consequently, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation and the Yang Ming Cultural Foundation have jointly held the “Yang Ming International Adolescents Painting Competition,” a biennial event which is now being held for the 4th time! The themes range from “the beauty of the sea” to “the future of the sea world.” It is an effort to invite global village citizens to help reduce carbon emissions in order to slow down global warming. It is hoped that the event will also be conducive to international cultural exchanges.
1. Themes: (1) The beauty of the sea
(2) The future of the sea world
2. Qualification of participants:
The competition is open to all adolescents throughout the world, age 4 to 15 years.
3. Entry rules:
(1) Genre: crayons, color pencils, watercolors, collage, etc.
(2) Size: within 39cm x 54cm (Mounting or framing is unnecessary)
(3) Number: one entry each participant
(4) Type: hard copy only
(5) Information: Each entry shall carry the following information in English and Block Letters on the back of painting:
* Full name
* Boy or girl
* Age
* Name of school and address (including contact person and phone number)
* Full home address (including phone number)
* E-mail
* Title of the entry
You may download the identification label from the website of Yang Ming Cultural Foundation (www.ymculture.org.tw), fill in the details and paste it on the back of painting.
(6) Deadline and delivery place for entries
(a) Deadline: October 12, 2012.
(b) Address: Deliver your entry to the YM office in your region as listed on
www.yml.com.tw or submit it directly to:

4. Awards
The scheduled number of prizes:
Gold Medal: 10, with a medal and a certificate each
Silver Medal: 20, with a medal and certificate each
Bronze Medal: 30, with a medal and certificate each
Honorable mention: 300, certificate
The names of prize winners will be posted on the website of Yang Ming Cultural Foundation (www.ymculture.org.tw) in January 2013.
5. Jury:
Art educators are to be invited to serve as jurors.
Criteria for judgment: Subject presentation, 30%; conception and creativity, 40%; and configuration, 30%
6. Conditions:
  1. Every participant must do his or her painting by himself or herself. Copying, tracing, pirating or improving by others is not allowed. If an entry is being charged of infringing copyright, the participant shall bear the legal responsibility. If the prize has been issued, it will be taken back.
  2. The entries will not be returned. The copyright and publication right of these entries belong to the sponsoring organization – Yang Ming Cultural Foundation. The sponsoring organization has all rights to publish, republish, replicate or use the works of the participants on various publicity materials or media without remuneration. No objection to this is allowed. The works that have won a prize or an honorable mention will become part of Yang Ming’s collection.
