I was in Taiwan for twenty years, but we've been back in NZ for nearly a year now. My children are 9 and 11 now, and they are thriving in the NZ school system. Being in a small town, it's been a challenge getting them to keep up the Mandarin, but now they have classes at school and the oldest child is an assistant in the class, which seems to be a cool thing to do.Katrina Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16793561387260778696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-571318664546179344.post-37924266020411429402014-10-14T22:37:39.404-07:002014-10-14T22:37:39.404-07:00Hello Katrina, Cute Tortoise! I am originally from New Zealand but my husband is Taiwanese and unfortunately my children all speak Chinese to me, even though I speak english back! So the reading of books in Chinese I usually give the task to my 8 year old daughter, I can read Chinese Characters if there are the bo po mo fo characters beside it, but then it can be pretty painful for my children to hear me read to them this way, lol. How old are your children and how long have you been living in Taiwan for? Take care and if you want pop into my blog and say hello :)Samplers, Silks and Linenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04212705390570294485noreply@blogger.com
